SAT scores needed to be semi-finalist???

Our school notified us that we were all commended. I got a 221 by the way, and im in FL. Our guidance counselor told us this: We had to take the new SAT (not counting March testing, but any future one) and score as high as our PSAT score X 10. I'm thinking he just mispoke, as I am pretty sure there is no truth to that. You are notified of semi-finalist based solely on PSAT scores, right? Please confirm this...

You must be confused. You automatically become a semi-finalist if you meet the cutoff for each state.

Now, you're thinking about becoming a finalist.
You have to take the SAT score, and show that you are at least consistent. They also base whether or not you become a finalist off of your GPA, essays, activities, and etc. If you score less on the SAT, it won't have that much of an impact, unless its like 200 points below what you got on the PSAT x 10.

Wow... your counselor seems as confused as mine...

:)
