SAT scores not meeting the school's requirement??

I got my SAT scores and im so bummed out.

Critical Reading 730
Math 690
Writing 590

but the requirements for berkeley is

SAT Critical Reading: 580 - 710
SAT Math: 630 - 760
SAT Writing: 600 - 720

Will i still have a chance to get it, even if i dont meet the requirement for writing?

You mean writing

You always have a chance to get in.

so is the score good enough? :))

im hoping that my score in CR compensates for my writing score…

lol sorry. i edited that out :P

writing is the easiest section to improve for most people. i improved from 580 to 770 in 2 months…so just retake

is anyone else having my problem? i feel so baad. missed it by 10 :(

I agree with yettiddqq8—I improved from a 680 in writing to an 800 with only minimal prep.

but i dont think i can take the SATI anymore if i want to reach the november deadline of some schools. I still have to take the subject tests on october.

There are no minimum SAT requirements at any schools. Those score ranges are just the averages of admitted applicants.

In that case, I’d try to focus on subject tests and the other parts of your app—I don’t think the score ranges you posted are absolute requirements. On the other hand, state schools (including Berkeley) are naturally more stats-driven. Are you in-state?

well, im moving there in april, which is waay after i apply. :(

I know a lot of people that got into UCB with scores far lower than the median. Besides, your scores are pretty good, I don’t think that not making it into the median by 10 points on just one section [the most unimportant one, too] will hurt you.

haha. thanks. that’s reassuring.
i realllyyy hope i get into ucb. i dont think i’ll get into stanford, but i’ll still try :))

@puffnoodles: i ttly feel you?
i got uhm 710/680/690. and i’m international so i don’t know what to do either cos I HAVE TO TAKE SUBJECT TESTS!! and the berkeley app closes on the 30thnovember. D: D: D:

hey those are pretty good already! :))

with the scores i have, should i take the SAT1 on november 7 and just have the scores rushed?
i’ll hopefully get higher in writing, and just superscore that to my CR and Math (assuming i dont get higher than what i have now)

You should retake it. Apparently it’s too low for Berkeley, but I wouldn’t know.
