SAT Scores of BS

Hi, I couldn't easily find average SAT scores of BS on their web sites. If you are student at Andover, Exeter, Deerfield, Hotchkiss, Milton, Middlesex, Lawrenceville, can you please post a web link to the average SAT scores of recent graduating classes of 2008 -2010? Thanks.

Im just curious – why are you interested in them?

Hi Sue22, It’s old data. I need something current from first hand sources like the BS websites. Some are available, some may be on a remote link on the school websites that I can’t easily locate. I am hoping to get them from current students who will very likely know where they are located on their websites.

I dont think there will be a big difference between the old data and new data. I honestly don’t even see why you really want this info.

My parents want to see them before they let me apply.

For what reason? To assure themselves that the kids that go to top boarding schools are truly some of the brightest kids around, or do they assume that kids with high SAT scores will more likely go to top colleges?

Look for the college profile, usually under college counseling. This will include all kinds of current numbers.

AFAIK, most of the marketing materials (brochures) have the scores from the last senior class. I think the school wiki entries have them as well. Since the Thacher brochure is more current in my mind, the scores were CR670, M670, W670.

Class of 2009 Exeter info CR703, M710, W703.

Average SAT scores are a poor metric for determining the suitability of a school to attend–there independent and public high schools in New York City and elsewhere with superior scores.

i hope you dont base your decision to attend based on one school having a 10-20 better mean sat score. please you can do just as well at any of the schools you listed. whatever is the best fit for you, dont worry about test scores

I think a better fit would be matriculation…

What might be the reason for some schools to have higher average SATs and worse college matriculation and vice versa? Is it the established connection of the schools with colleges, ie, feeder schools?

Some students prefer the “worse” schools over the Ivys + MIT + Stanford, etc. (If I was accepted to Harvard and Middlebury, I would prefer to attend Middlebury). Some boarding schools have more emphasis on fit for colleges rather than just improving their matriculation.

I wouldn’t say any of the HADES / GLADCHEMMS are specifically feeder schools. They all send several students each year to many excellent institutions. The only school that MAY be considered a feeder school is Lawrenceville to Princeton.

The difference in average SAT scores shouldn’t really matter. Like andoverwarrior6 said dont base your decision to attend a school on the fact that one school has a few more points than another school. The scores that kwu posted show that basically all of the schools have average SAT scores in the high 600s. You should now start looking at other areas of the schools on your list, especially programs in your area of interest.

I wasn’t able to locate Hotchkiss School Profile on the school website. Does any one have access to the profile?

I need help in comparing and contrasting Lawrenceville vs. Hotchkiss. Which is considered a better school for a great overall experience, ie, no specialization in math and such? Thanks.
