Do colleges look at the highest SAT scores from each section from each test?

Example:

test 1: Math 770 reading 700 writing 650
test 2: math 700 reading 760 writing 680
test 3: math 680 reading 710 writing 730

do colleges take the math score from test 1, reading score from test 2, and writing score from test 3? the highest score of each section from all tests taken?

Most will "superscore" or take the highest of each section.

Most will take the highest score from each section. Of course, it does look better if you just get the highest score all in one sitting ;)

It really depends on the college. Read their policies. UNC superscores, UCLA doesn't for example.

As others have correctly replied, each college sets its own rules. Check the college Web site or contact a college admission officer directly for the most up-to-date information about college policies. Considering best scores on a section-by-section basis is a typical policy of highly selective private colleges and universities.

Some state universities consider SAT I scores sitting by sitting, which is a different policy but one that they apply to all applicants.
