I sent my SAT scores back in October, but even though Albert shows that NYU has received my transcript and application, my SAT scores are shown as missing. When I called, they stated that they were not able to complete all the application checklists due to the high volume of applications, but that if I didn't receive an email from them stating they were missing (which I didn't) then I should assume they should have them. Is anyone else in this situation? Also, once they review my application, will the SAT score show as no longer missing (thereby I will know as soon as they have made a decision, even though I won't know what it is)?

Same here, SAT scores are still showing up as missing. I assume since I haven’t heard from them it’s okay. :)

ya it’s fine! I emailed them and they said it was ok and that Albert was just slow or something, so you’re fine. :)

So 90 minutes after I posted this, I got an email from NYU, and now they say they don’t have the SAT scores I sent in October, and which Collegeboard confirmed they had delivered. So I will send them another copy tomorrow - not the end of the world.

I got the same exact email stating they’re missing my transcripts. Whats weird is that last week, the Tisch undergraduate assistant director personally emailed me stating that she was reviewing my application and that I was still missing my transcripts

Half an hour after I got her email I had my guidance counselor fax my transcripts over. Now today, I get an email saying they’re still missing it…hopefully the system just hasn’t been updated yet with my transcripts…I sent an email anyway with my NYU ID stating that I did sent my stuff last week…

what the hell nyu?

I got an e - mail a couple of minutes ago saying the same thing. I used the SAT subject test option and submitted the tests in biology, U.S history, and world history. Guess I have to call them tomorrow. I submitted them a year ago by the way.

great, now i’m freaking out… i’m sure i’ll get an email soon. ha.

im on the same boat. just got the standard incomplete application email and a reply to my email regarding the missing SAT score saying that they received a score under my name but without a DOB…what the heck NYU and collegeboard!!!

It is disappointing to hear of NYU’s problems with record keeping that have been reported here repeatedly this year. I do not remember so many complaints of people forwarding their materials (believe the students) and not having the materials documented properly by NYU. Now, last minute, some are reported to be missing or “have not sent” key documents (probably not recorded or filed probably, my thought).

Have the 40,000+ applications gotten beyond NYU’s Admission Staff’s capacity to do their work in a competent manner?

It is a shame students who have done their part conscientiously now have to worry about getting records re-sent last minute. Sorry, NYU applicants. Welcome to the world of a big bureaucracy.

aw thanks evolving, it has been crazy but, with that many apps, I guess it’s understandable that it takes a while!! are you a student at nyu?

Hi, lorrainedelis,

Haha, I wish. I left my college years many years ago. I also attended a college in NYC. Barnard College at Columbia U. Way more competition and craziness now. Anyone from my high school (Hunter College High School, a specialized school for the gifted) was accepted there. I basically received a full ride there, as well as Tufts University and the City University Joint B.S./M.D. program (the latter included free rent for an apartment, tutors provided for free, if needed and a stipend for living expenses).

I was a professor teaching bachelors’ and masters’ level courses in social work until my retirement recently. This is why I have time to come on this forum to add my two bits. :)

By the way, my son is a MLK scholar at NYU, so I have learned a lot about NYU in the process.

I’m applying to Barnard too evolving! Yay that’s awesome that you know about both colleges I think both are probably a stretch for me (there IS a lot of competition!) but I hope I get in!!

Hey,lorraine,

Barnard College is a great college in the sense that it really cultivates many, many bright women and encourages them to achieve. All my classmates that I befriended went onto either medical degrees or Ph.D.'s. It was also great to be able to take any of the courses at Columbia. I did quite a few classes there. I like the area south of main entrance at W. 116th St. but you do have to be careful traveling north of that area. I believe even now.

Last year, Barnard’s acceptance rate was around 30%+. The good thing is you have less competition to get in (by eliminating approx. half the competition via gender), but once you get in, you are attending classes with the Columbia College students (who have a 8-9% of getting in).

I really felt at home at Barnard and had to study very hard the last 2 years as I got serious about my major.

GL to you. Either Barnard or NYU or both! Can’t go wrong. :)

My apologies to the OP for hijacking the thread here. Back to the topic of the thread.

i just called NYU up and spoke to a student ambassador. He said there is nothing they could do about my scores. So he told me to call up College Board and send them again. So I did and now they apparently know what the situation is. I mean really.

Oh, really! I echo that too Columbia09. The only good thing is I hear they are not holding this against you, right?

They better not. I sent the scores out over a year ago so its not my fault that the College Board and NYU and keep track of tests.

thanks so much for the advice evolving! I’m sure I’ll see you around the nyu and barnard threads (especially as it gets closer to april 1st!)

sorry for getting off topic OP! and I’m sorry about the SAT scores. My transcript took a while to show up on Albert too…This whole process is so stressful and nerve racking! Good luck!

Yesterday morning I had my school’s counseling department send in a signed copy of the SAT scores, as requested by the email NYU sent. My school’s counseling dept. is awesome - they faxed it within an hour. NYU admissions - not quite so awesome, it’s still showing as missing 30 hours after the fax. Should I call them tomorrow and ask about it? Also, am I the only one who thinks that for our $70 application fee we should at least have competent sorting of our materials? I know they have 40,000 apps, but they also have $70*40,000. \rant

anxiousenior, Since the SAT scores were lost once already and NYU is not acting in a timely manner to document what is coming in directly and instantly through fax, I say go ahead and call Monday first thing. It is understandable that you are anxious at this late date.

This is the least they can do for you, after causing you and your supportive H. S. counseling dept. extra work.

My son had only experienced problems with missing paperwork that was not properly documented or delayed in documentation for his application to MaCaulay Honors College, part of CUNY. Now that is another big bureaucracy. NYU was good last year. Sorry to hear of this recurrent NYU Admissions’ problem with timely documentation.

Email them or call them to see if your application is complete. I emailed and they told me it was, but Albert still says it isn’t. I know they say that Albert is usually slow.
