SAT scores vs. GPA

It seems like all the kids that got into BC had high SAT scores and a variety of GPAs. It also seems that the kids that got waitlisted or rejected had good grades but ok standardized test scores. Is it the SATs that get kids into BC? If I get like a 1500 on my SATs and am in top 15% of my grade would i have a chance? Also not a single senior from my school got accepted to BC this year. but none of the kids that applied had great SATs (they had low 1300’s), they were just in the top 10% of their class. (BTW im a girl from NJ)

I got in with a 1400 and listed as top 5% of my class. BC is a strange school with admissions practices; I've heard people with great stats get rejected for seemingly no good reason.

I got in with a 1220 SAT... I'm transferring as a sophomore though. Don't count yourself out based on a certain score.

GPA>SAT/ACT (by how big a margin, no one knows for sure).

To those who were not accepted to BC for transfer do not fret. It's certainly not the institution that many make it out to be. I just to spent my freshmen year at BC and didnt like it all. The academics are not challenging (hence my near perfect GPA), the people are fake, and the housing is terrible. I'll be at Georgetown next year and im so happy I got away from BC. If you want to be in Boston apply to Harvard, Tufts, or Wellesley. My friend who is at Harvard loves it and I know others who are happy at the others. So to those who didnt get in dont get too upset.

BC is a good school but people fail to realize that there are so many great opportunities at other schools. So im sorry if i offended anyone but I want people to "hear the other side of the story" concerning BC.

Seriously tdolson88, if you hate BC, then provide concrete evidence that back up your story rather than making blanket statement that does no service to everyone. I love BC, but I acknowledge its drawbacks and know where it needs to improve. No school is perfect, but your attitude to attacking BC on every single post here shows me that you were either rejected and now is trying to get back at BC with some concocted story and then post it every chance you get, or a person who really has nothing better to do with his/her time. My advice, get a life and move on.

"If you want to be in Boston apply to Harvard, Tufts, or Wellesley. My friend who is at Harvard loves it and I know others who are happy at the others. "
- News alert, students who apply to BC DO APPLY TO THOSE SCHOOL TOO. I'm glad that your friends are happy at Harvard and wherever, but if you don't mind me asking, what does that have anything to do with the caliber of education at BC. I'm guessing you're a freshman, so I am assuming you haven't been here long enough to take the hundreds of different professors here at BC so you weren't challenged, but that doesn't say anything on the challenge of BC curriculum. Georgetown offers a fine education and I hope it offers the intense curriculum that you crave (I'm surprise Chicago and Reed weren't in your list if challenge is what you're looking for).

ok whos posting on every thread now...i was just trying to dilute the bias on these bc threads. I thought most people would want to hear a second opinion considering this site is for students to explore their higher education options. Like I said above, I did not mean to insult anyone but instead give people an insiders take on BC (even tho some people who go to Bc love it i did not have a great experience), thats all.

"ok whos posting on every thread now."

I learn from the best at BC and the worst at College Confidential, so I guess I have tdolson88 to thank for the lesson in mass propaganda.

Your previous statement wasn't an "other side of the story," like you have claimed. The other side of the story is a thought provoking careful look into the psyche and problems of Boston College that make it an inferior institution--one that doesn't offer a worth while education for the price it charges. But instead, your post read like a litany of pitiful complaints and meaningless gesture of an "apology." Instead of stepping up and defense your opinion with concrete evidence of a systematic flaw at BC, you again offer falsely reasoned rhetorics. You said you met fake individuals, that's fine, BC students are saint, but you unreasonably and illogically present your statement under a presumption that it applies to everyone (which is about 9000 people, and I doubt you have spent that much time at BC to make that many enemies). I appreciate honest discussion that gives the random and anonamous readers at CC an understanding at BC--both its positive aspects and negative drawbacks. No one here is claiming BC the most perfect school in America or that it is the right fit for all people. Your mistake in looking for school doesn't translate into BC being a terrible school that people should avoid. I don't think you can make a gaurantee that Georgetown will be an absolute for you either.

Here is the final word: If you want to present the otherside, try to understand what being on the other side means; and it doesn't include a list of vendetta against "fakeness" that condemns the entire student body.

ok this is clearly not going any where so I'll take the high road and respectfully end the discussion. I gave a more "in depth" summation of my reasoning on another thread. Reddune you must learn to accept the opinions of others and allow this site to be an open discussion for prospective students. But either way, I wish the best for you with your remaining years at BC. If anyone has any other questions about BC please feel free to private message me.

Why take the high road now since the low road is where you started. I respect opinion when they are informative and your post on the other thread actually resemble a meaningful post. A carefully thought-out post will actually provoke meaningful discussion that will lead somewhere, but you didn't do that did you?

wow u just dont know when to end...grow up.

"wow u just dont know when to end...grow up.
HAHA, I'm sorry I didn't want to respond to this latest one, but it was so funny I have to. This advice comes from a person who waits 60 seconds for seven to eight times to repost his rant over and over again to make sure people read his shallow "other side," who is telling me to grow up. I'm sorry, when I'm immature I know I'm immature, I don't pretend to be something I'm not. My advice to you is to go to to a mirror and repeat "grow up," and hopefully it might stick to your brain longer than sixty seconds.

why not 49? isnt 48 somewhat arbitrary?
