SAT Scores: What should I do?

Hi guys,
I am 18 and I am applying to colleges this year. I have taken the SAT twice now; the first time I got CR:640 M:680 W:590 so I got a total of 1910, the second time I got CR:730 M:680 W:550 with a total of 1960. My writting section is always rubbish and I got an 8 the 1st time and a 7 the second for my essay. If I combine my scores and take the best results I have 2000. I am waiting for my SAT II results but do you think that these scores are good enough for me to apply to good colleges for engineering? Should I take the SAT again? Would love to hear what you think....

Take it again, study ur A** off, do 1-2 hours from the blue book each night.

Have you read this? http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/sat-preparation/645763-how-write-12-essay-just-10-days.html

I say take it again but make sure that you’re prepared and that you know you’ll do better. Don’t take it again just for the sake of taking it again.

SAT again, with prior work on the writing.

Also try the ACT + Writing. You may do better.

The really strong Engineering Schools like to see very strong Math scores, not just the SAT - but the Subject Matter Math2. I would recommend that you visit the web pages of some Engineering schools that interest you and see what the 25%-75% percentile Math scores are. Best of luck.

Yes, I would take it again. I think your score would be considered just below average for engineering schools (but then again, I’m a high school student myself, so how should I know?) Like @DreamSchlDropout said, try the ACTs. I personally found it so much easier. My best score on the SATs was 1940, and on the ACTs, my best score was 30 (which is about 2050 on the ACTs).
