my sat scores are
CR: 770
Math: 630
Writing: 700
is my low math score something that would count me out. i have a high gpa, decent extra curriculars, and my essays were pretty good.
thoughts?

A 2100 is definitely not what would count you out.

One thing you should know, Notre Dame does not appear to count the writing section in evaluating SATs. It seems as though they use the critical reading and math score only. That said, 1400 is a definitely within their “band”. Good luck!

ND’s 25th %ile last year was a 1390, so your at the lower end. ND takes SAT’s as maybe it’s number one priority, so it’ll be close.

Could be one of the last few they consider, try to do as much as you can to maybe help “stand out”. Try writing a letter to your local AdCom and show tour interest. Visit if you haven’t and/ or your budget allows.

Hopefully the luck o’ the Irish is on your side!

Notre Dame does not look at the writing section. However, if it is a very good score they absolutely do take it into consideration. I called and spoke with an admissions counselor before we submitted my S app and thats what they told me. My S had a 780 so we were going to be bummed if that was over looked. When I mentioned his score the counselor immediately stated that they would look at that score. The bottom line is that it can’t hurt you. If the score is low or middle range then its ignored and just doesn’t count. But if its very good to stellar then they just it as a positive note on your file.

I don’t think it will count you out by any means, but it won’t be a significant help either. Hopefully your GPA and Class Rank will work in your favor when it comes to the academic part of the application.

Actually according to the common data set (https://www3.nd.edu/~instres/CDS/CDS_2009-2010.pdf)

the 25th percentile was a 1330. 75th was 1510.

^ that’s from 2002.

ND . Edu says it’s 1390- 15 something. I trust the official website.

^^ goldendomer’s numbers (1330 - 1510) are from the 2009-2010 common data set (1330 - 1510).

^ jcold’s number (1350) is from the ND admissions website for this year’s class (2010-2011).

These two data points aren’t necessarily contradictory. The CDS indicates that the 25th percentile for reading is 650, and the 25th percentile for math is 680. This isn’t the same as saying that the 25th percentile for R+M is 1330. According to ND, the middle 50% R+M is 1390-1490.

I got in with a 2050 through early action, 1360 on the CR and M.

^ You are a minority though. Totally changes everything.
