So I looked at my SAT scores today and they were not as high as I hoped. I got a 700 on Critical Reading, 660 on Math, and 620 on Writing (totaled up it was 1980/2400). I did study a little bit (I read through one of those prep book things), but the classroom I was taking the test in literally had posters everywhere so whenever I would look up to think about a question I would get distracted and ran out of time on two of the math sections. Does anyone have any suggestions on how I should improve my scores/ study for when I take it again. I'm a junior this year and am hoping to the take the test again in February or March depending on how I feel. Would it be like totally crazy for me to raise my total up to like a 2150??? Any input you have would be amazing! Thanks :)

Not crazy at all!
The obvious thing for me to say here would be to study, study, study.

CR: Your CR score is pretty good. It’s hard to raise your score after reaching the low 700s. I’m not sure if vocabulary is one of your weak points, but if it is, definitely study more vocab words so that you’ll get through the completing the sentence part in a breeze. Other suggestions would be to read more books. It helps with getting through the passages.
Math: I didn’t really use any prep books for math but I heard Gruber’s SAT Math book is pretty good and helps a lot. Take practice tests and watch out for those tricky problems!
Writing: Learn your grammar! I used three books to get me through grammar.
The Grammar Bible by Auriel Douglas
A Pocket Style Manual by Hacker and Sommers
The Elements of Style by White and Strunk Jr.
You don’t have to try going through all the books. (Well, I recommend reading all of Elements of Style since it’s short and to the point.)

This is just some brief advice. If you want more, look at silverturtle’s guide to taking the SAT’s right here on CC. There are tons of resources online if you don’t feel like buying tons of books, especially on CC.

Oh also, there’s no SAT test in February but I believe there is an ACT in Feb. And stay focused!!
