SAT scores

I gave the SAT this June(I’m an int’l student). I got 800 in CR, 780 in M,and 630 in W.I actually got 45/49 questions right in the grammar mc.what brought down my score was my essay score of SIX(out of 12).neither did I practice writing the essay even once, nor could I even finish it on time in the SAT.suggestions for improving essay writing are welcome, but my main question is- I was considering sending in my college applications early for scholarship deadlines, but nearly all schools I’m applying to are really selective(I need a LOT of fin aid).should I even apply with these scores?I’m retaking the SAT in october and plan to send that score to my reach colleges(which would be nearly all of them.) Will my writing score in this SAT hurt me in the sense that adcoms will view it as my inability to express myself in English properly?it is important they view me as an effective communicator in English since I’m an international student.does my CR make up a bit for it?

That score is VERY GOOD for international students. Don’t retake it!!! 630 in Writing may not be that hurtful since writing section tend to be less important than the other two(did you know Writing section is going to be removed starting Spring 2016?)
It’s hard even for native speakers to get 800 in CR.

You don’t need to retake. Focus on your SAT subjects.
With a 1580/1600 CR+M, you’re eligible for lots of scholarships.
I think Pitt’s aren’t open to internationals otherwise you’d be a shoo-in -you can always try, of course, since they love high stats. Obviously apply to women’s colleges (since your screen name is “princess” I assume you identify as female) and look not just for need-based aid but also merit aid, especially the competitive scholarships.

Pitts doens’t offer any kind of FA, including merit scholarship.

For merit scholarship, I would recommend U of Alabama and Howard University.

@musicprincess33, MYOS1634 brings up a good point: if you are female, don’t overlook the top women’s colleges: Bryn Mawr, Wellsley, Smith College, Barnard, etc. They can be generous to high achieving international students, especially from under-represented parts of the world (Africa, Eastern Europe, etc.)

Thanks all of you!! Wellesley is already one of my top choices, @katliamom !! So I guess this means there’s no need for me to take the ACT(my friends are,but I don’t want to).I don’t know about “high-achieving”(my 11th std grades are not the best, and I haven’t cured cancer yet :D).Thanks for your encouragements!! Ps- today’s my birthday

And yeah, @paul2752 ,I know about the new SAT,but I’m a senior so my application deadline is Jan 1,2016. I guess I can’t take it before sending in my application.

Happy Birthday, @musicprincess33!

Thank you @katliamom !!!
