Hello, so I have a question. I didn’t do so hot last couple yrs of high school and I have been doing all I can to redeem myself during my senior year. If I sent in my old SAT scores to the universities I want to apply to, but I want to retake the SAT to send in better ones is that possible? Or would those universities not accept them anymore because they already received my SAT scores from last time?
The issue is simply one of timing. For any scores to be considered, you have to get test scores in before they make a decison on you as to admission. For colleges that follow rolling admissions (meaning they make decisions as applications are received, they will make the decison usually within a few weeks after receipt of a completed application (one that already has test scores submitted) and thus if you submit some scores at time of applying, you need to get additonal scores in fast after applying.
If the college is one of the many that makes decisions at a set time (such as some time in March or April for the following school year), you will usually find it has a set date for all applications to be submitted (often in early January, but some earlier or later than that) and those will consider any scores submitted by the application deadline date, and in most cases even scores submitted within two weeks to a month after that date.
