Hey everyone,

I know it depends on the school, but when are SAT scores necessary to be sent to the school you're applying to transfer to? Does it only apply to privates? When I transfer I'll be going for junior year standing.

They’re required almost everywhere when applying as a soph, but almost nowhere as a Junior. Schools look almost entirely at your college record for juniors (proven to be a better indicator of performance at college than any standardized test to date) =)

^Not true. Many private colleges want them and they are still important at schools that do.

Ditto what hmom5 said. Your SATs, unfortunately, can only hurt you as a junior applicant. (They can help, but negligibly.) Split indicators (i.e. low SATs and a high college/high school GPA) are a liability for top schools.

any source for that ridiculous claim?

Why don’t you read what adcoms have to say about it before wasting space on the boards? It’s common sense that split indicators are liabilities and don’t fare well as junior transfers at top schools. There are always exceptions to every rule, but the trend is overwhelming at top schools/Ivies: If a school would not have taken you as a freshman, it will not likely take you as a transfer.

might you suggest an apt piece of literature or legitimate online publication so i can read about what adcoms have to say about this so-called “split indicator”? i.e., do you have a source, like i asked initially?
