I'm applying early action, and I'm taking the October SATs. Will they factor the October SAT scores into their decision, or will it get processed before they get my score? Should I send in my current score (2040) for now?

Send your score, but indicate on the app that you’re taking the SAT in October. If you get in with your old SAT score , then great. If you’re not good enough to get in with your old SAT, then they’ll wait until they get the new score and evaluate you again.

sorry i asked you this question before
but how do you indicate that you will take sat again??
just put month and year of the future test date???

^ Yep. You do that for all tests (ACT, SAT, SAT II, AP). If you click preview on the online app, I think it says something like “Tell us the dates when you took these tests. Include future test dates too”.

If you really wanted to be 100% on the safe side, you could also put the exact date on the additional info section, but I don’t think you have to. It can’t hurt though.

If you are in-state with at least a 3.8 GPA, pretty good ECs, volunteering, sports, music etc…with a 2040 you’ll probably get in. A LOT harder if you’re out of state though.

^ Good music? U of M doesn’t care about ECs/volunteering in the first place for qualified applicants. In-state with 3.8 + 2040, and rigorous classes, you’ll probably get in with a 2040 with even really sucky ECs/volunteering. They definitely don’t care about your taste in music…

I’m out of state, but my family might be moving to Michigan at the end of this school year. My GPA isn’t great either (3.4, Weighted 4.3).

Sorry, but I have another question. If I get deferred early action, will they put me on top of the rolling admissions pile?

^ Yep, but from what I’ve heard, U of M had some troubles handling all of the applications. People who got deferred sometimes didn’t hear back until April 16th, and that was often a wait-list.

It won’t matter that your parents are moving to Michigan. You’ll still be considered OOS. But yeah, you’re very likely to get deferred with your GPA, SAT because you’re OOS unless you went to a top HS or something o_O :[

I think our 2040 is good, though if you reall want them to see your new score coming in October, it may be a little risky sending in the old one without the new one, in case they mistakenly over look the fact that your retaking the SAT.
