I got a 223 on my SATs, so naturally I am a NMSF at the moment, but I got a 2120 on my SATs. I wasn't going to worry about that because I ended up getting a 35 on my ACTs, and I was gonna use that exclusively to apply for colleges. Anyway, I know most of the Scholarships in this program are given based on this application i'm filling out now, which has my SAT as its only test score. Should I take the SATs again just for this? (I should mention i'm already taking Subject Tests that I NEED to do this October, so I'd have to to do it in November)

Are you concerned that NMCorp won’t give you the one time $2500 because of your SAT score? If so, then take the SAT again in Nov or Dec.

However, if your concerned about school scholarships then they won’t see your NMF application. They’ll only see that you made NMF and any stats you send them with your school application…which will have the 35 ACT…

What is your concern?

So are the NMF one-time scholarships based on the SAT score (along with the essay, etc?) Kiddo has a 2140 SAT, and wasn’t planning to take it again…would rather get one of the (sometimes larger, with their own additions) school-sponsored awards, but would hate to miss out on $2500, if that would available instead of nothing. (Of course, her dad and I do not work at any of the places that sponsor corporate awards…)

hm, for whatever reason i thought the $2500 was yearly, I think I’ll shoot for a college scholarship then. Thanks!

Yes, the NMF one-time scholarship is based in part on the SAT score; I found this statement in the directions that are available online.

I don’t believe it is necessary for the parents to be employed by one of the sponsors in all cases. I received a corporate-sponsored scholarship years ago, and my father was self-employed. I wrote a nice thank you note, as I was surprised and grateful!

Corporate only gives corporate sponsored scholarship to their employee children.

Other students who make to NMSC finalist may receive $2500 one time payment scholarship from NMSC or scholarship from colleges that sponsored NMSC program.

Wait, I have a similar question. I got a 220 on PSAT and a 2100 on SAT. Do I have to retake to be a NMF?

No you don’t. 2100 SAT is plenty high for the purpose of confirming your PSAT score.

Nearly all corporate scholarships MUST go to employees’ children. Only a small number can go to others. For those, often there is another specification…like the student is going to major in a particular subject.

Nope…the NMCorp scholarship is a one time $2500 scholarship.
