To what extent do they look at the Critical Reading and Math opposed to the Writing? My CR is slightly low 680 compared to my Math 770 and Writing 760. Is it proven they look at the CR and Math a slightly higher standard and disregard the Writing all together?

Writing is of very little importance at most schools. Many schools will flat out say that they disregard writing. Most schools seem to be straight forward about how they consider the writing.

What about the top tier colleges? HYPSBD

There is a large discrepancy between your scores, but no one can speak on behalf of colleges when it comes to how much a certain one values one section over the other.

You could take it again, and try to get that CR score up.
It's not as if it's a bad one, anyway.

At some schools, like Johns Hopkins, the SAT writing is like an SAT II score, whereas at some schools like Georgetown it isn't considered at all. Although I am sure there are some schools that do consider SAT writing, they are more concerned with your essay sample.

Most schools (HYPS ect.) consider the writing as more important than a SAT II score and less important than the CR and Math scores. This is the best answer you will find..

I believe the common data set on each school will mention how they view the writng. There is also a thread around with a link to a list of how many schools view it.

Here is Yale's; see page 8 regarding use of Essay ( not neccesarily writing score)

This is a link from an old ( 07) thread about how schools view it; it was from 06 and it's not on Kaplan's page anymore.

KAPLAN EXCLUSIVE: New SAT Scoring Policies from 374 Top Schools

Yeah, my SAT scores were CR 680, Math 800, Writing 780, and I was like, um, I know that there's a 100 point discrepancy, and I know that I'll be applying to schools that require good critical reading skills, but I'm not going to spend $40 and 4 hours testing and several more hours preparing just to raise one section up. So I stopped. But I don't know the answer to your question. I wouldn't worry about it, though.

Many colleges look at writing the same as CR and M (like Dartmouth), but many more don't(like Yale). I don't think it matter much. I mean, you have a 2200+.

well according to other thread I read earlier, it depends on colleges. Stanford etc weigh Writing equal to CR/Math, whereas Georgetown doesn't even look at it.
