SAT Strategy for admissions to colleges

Marian:

it really depends on the college. Like I posted before, some colleges do have a support person enter the highest single scores on the outside of the applicant's folder, but may include the full CB score report in the folder shoud the reader wish to go look to see other scores; however, given time pressures that is likely to happen only in rare cases. In other colleges, the support staff may take a large sharpie felt tip pen and circle the highest test scores on CB's score report to make it easier for the application reader to immediately identify the top scores -- in this case, the reader can also see if the report is pages long.

Nightingale: Sometimes we parents can overthink the process; everyone wants to rationalize why they don't get into x & y colleges. IMO, test scores matter more for merit money, so a one-time retake of a mid-700 score doesn't seem unusual. Schools like Emory & Rhodes throw full ride merit money at kids for the (single) reason of competing with HYPSM.
