SAT studying

I got an 1870 on my first SAT and a 1990 on my second, so I only have one more chance to improve my score. It’s a 2060 superscored. What are the best ways to get, ideally, a 2100 or 2200? Would the Princeton Review be a good use of my time or are there other applications that are more helpful? I’m taking the last offered old SAT dat on January 23. I have the Collegeboard blue book and I did about 5 of the 10 practice tests before I took my last SAT.

do the rest of the practice tests and take old ones after you finished the ones in the blue book

I have been waiting quite long to post this. But couldn’t find the time to, so i thought I would put this out there so that people benefit before the format for the test changes.
So i took the SAT 3 times and scored in the low 2000s; I could have gotten more but i can assure you that it was only because I prepared only for one day before each test.
But here’s what I do:

  1. Do not rely on any other books by publishers such as (Barrons,Princeton or McgrawHill). trust me when I say that. Cuz i have looked at all three and I can assure you that will not be any help. They keep repeating the same things and make it redundant. Probably just use Barrons flash cards for Vocab, but DO NOT BUY BOOKS. They are such a RIP OFF.
  2. Buy the blue book and treat them as real SAT Tests. DO NOT RACE THROUGH THEM. Use them wisely to test where you stand. Use them one by one and correct your mistakes before you take them.
  3. To learn from mistakes, USE ONLINE RESOURCES. I might recommend you to take the PrepScholar course as it seems quite good, but even if you don't take the course, their blog posts are really helpful.
  4. FOR CR: Google 'Grammatix' and download the book for free.READ THROUGH IT and USE THEIR TIPS.(really helps) I have a friend who got a 780 in CR after using it. I highly recommend it.
  5. FOR WRITING: Google 'SAT Grammar Rules' and find the link to the grammar rules and memorise them. USE them constantly during the test. If you have the time, take out a novel and read it aloud(HELPS YOU REALSIE GRAMMAR RULES AS YOU READ). But READ IT ALOUD, it works best.
  6. MATH: Trust me, I top my math class in school in ever exam when it comes to calculus and Statistics but i have never topped 750 in Math. The main Reason: I think the test is too easy for me and blaze through it. So to do better, go slow and look at the tricks in the questions. A few common tricks to look out for:
  7. Properties of 0
  8. Properties of 1
  9. Prime numbers etc.

Although Everything I say might sound easy, do it. It really helps.
Don’t hesitate to PM for any help.
Kudos

Learning from your mistake does help a lot when you’re scoring below 2000, so keep reviewing your mistakes. However, to be completely honest with you, learning from your mistake has a certain limit that requires a little bit of critical thinking to go beyond; the limit, I would say, is about 2080.
So here’s my solution to bring your scores up.

  1. Math: Your SAT Math score is really good. I don't think there's other way to improve your math score except keep reviewing your math mistakes in the blue book.
  2. Writing: Judging from the fact that you got 1990 with a very good math score, I'll assume that your writing score isn't really good. I'd recommend you to use Prepscholar, an online sat prep score. Prepscholar doesn't have a good reading prep program, but it has some really good writing prep programs. I was able to raise my writing score 30 points just from enrolling in Prepscholar.
  3. Reading: I'll assume that your reading is also weak. To be honest, critical reading is really hard to improve because the reading section really depends on the student's intelligence... However, there is a way to improve your score. Let's first take care of the vocabs. Use Prepscholar's 200 essential sat words and Meritzer reading prep book's vocabs section. To improve our passage reading ability, use Meritzer reading guide book. Read each section in the book carefully and take your time understanding how each problem works. This book, if studied appropriately, will change the way you think and may improve your reading score SIGNIFICANTLY. I used this book, and my reading score improved over 50 points.

Those have been my words of wisdom, and good luck for your next sat exam.

Reference: I did pretty well on the SAT.
