SAT Subect Test/ACT question

I have taken the SAT twice, with a superscore (is that what it is called?) of 2330. I recently discovered that many schools I am looking at (no Ivy Leagues, colleges like Vanderbilt, Northwestern, etc.) either require or "strongly recommend" SAT Subject Test scores or the ACT. Would it be better to take the ACT in the fall, take two or three subject tests, or just not waste my time/money and hope the score will be enough?

Not sure of your info. Northwestern and Vanderbilt do not require SAT IIs but recommend them (NW 3, Vandy 2). That recommendation exists regardless of whether you submit the ACT or SAT as your basic test so it is not an issue of submitting the ACT in lieu of the SAT IIs. In other words if you are applying to NW or Vandy, it is highly recommended that you take and submit SAT IIs. If you already have a high SAT, you have no need to take the ACT for those two colleges.

There are colleges that normally require SAT IIs but accept the ACT in lieu of both the SAT and SAT IIs. For those, you could submit the ACT, but if in addition to those schools, you really want to apply to NW and Vandy and you need to choose which tests to take that may be good for all, your better option is the SAT IIs.

Also, you really don’t have the option of taking no further tests if you intend to apply to any college that normally requires SAT IIs, even if it takes the ACT in lieu of of both the SAT and SAT IIs. You need to submit IIs to those colleges (or submit the ACT for those that take that in lieu of the SAT and SAT IIs) to complete your application and your application will be rejected if you submit only the SAT, i.e., they will never even get to the merits of your application, you will simply be rejected for failing to submit required materials needed for your application to be considered.
