is it a requirement to take SAT subj tests in order to have a better chance at a 'good school '

bump

No. See if the college you are interested in requires or recommends taking subject tests. Also, if subject tests are required try to take the tests as soon as possible. Saying a “good school” leads to interpretation because everyone has different ideas about which schools are “good” schools. What do you consider to be “good” schools.

It depends on what your definition of a good school is. Many Ivies, MIT and Caltech require subject tests, so rather than giving you a leg up, it’s impossible to get in if you haven’t satisfied the requirements. For other “good” schools, I suppose a 750+ score on the SAT Subject tests will show mastery in the subject (sometimes it could even override a poor AP test score).

i was thinking of some Ivies @tola2015 and @enginebus2015 and will it say what subj tests i have to take on the website ?

Yes, it should.

It does give the college a good look at which areas you are strong in. Such as MIT, taking Math 2 and scoring an 800 would look nice

I think if you know what you want to do then it can help you get into a specific school. Like if you know you want to go into math/engineering then you should take and send in the sat subj math tests

oh hell yeah if you’re applying to ivies you better have at least 2 (bare minimum) subject tests and stellar scores in both.
