I live in Canada. Is my Grade 11 Biology, Chemistry, and Physics courses good enough to do the SAT Subject Tests. I looked at the sample and a lot of the questions I have not learned.

Is it fair and what do most international students do?

Compared to my school syllabus which is one of the easiest courses in India, the SAT subject tests were nothing more than a waste of time and paper...and money.

Just read through the basic principles of 11th and 12th grade Physics for the corresponding subject test, that should be enough. The Physics Subject test is all about understanding the principles.

Wow. Crazy man...
For the states, are the tests mostly based on the 11th grade or 12th grade? In other words, do I need to study the 12th grade.

yes, yes you do have to study for 12th grade courses. I am currently in physics, bio and math in grade 12 in canada, and i ended up learning the last 3 units of each of the subjects myself just to take the SAT II's. ended up with 800/800/730(bio)

i'm becoming senior in february, and i looked at the sat2 chem questions and i still havent learnt some of the subjects covered by the test.
and i'm taking my sciency sat subjects in like june +

i graduated from hs in canada, took SAT II bio, and IIc
IIc is a breeze, Bio was not!, if you live in Ontario, there's a lot on SAT II bio that you might not have learned(i got way below 700 in that :()
and as for chemistry, i think you should probably be prepared, for physics, read barrons and you should be okay.

Chemistry - basic concepts I learned in Grade 11, but some concepts (entropy, enthalpy, Quantum theory) needed a review book to learn
IIC - the only thing I didn't learn in grade 11 was logs and permutations/combinations
Biology - easy with grade 11 stuff
Physics - looked it over, and I definitely learned a lot of the material in grade 12

have you considered taking the act? i've heard that it's relatively easier for canadians and the science portion is really just looking at graphs, albeit the test is quicker and puts a lot more pressure on you to finish quickly.

Well... I appreciate the ACT idea, but I've bought SAT books and spent a lot of time focusing on SAT.

So basically I'm going to take Math IC and 2 sciences. I'm thinking Chem and Physics AS SOON AS I FINISH Grade 11 Ch and Phy this summer. Is that a bad idea?

If you're from British Columbia, it's a pretty bad idea to take the SAT II exams after you finish Chem 11. I found that the SAT II exam covered a lot of topics (in Chemistry) that overlapped with my AP Chemistry class. So, if you can, try to take AP Chemistry in your junior year.

Also, if you're looking to enter a top-tier school, you should try to go for the Math Level 2 exam instead, unless you're an absolute genius at math. I took the Math Level 2 in my senior year, but I had to study the whole math 12 textbook ahead of time. The reason you should take the math II exam is because the curve is MUCH more lenient. Whereas the Math I requires you to get a perfect raw score to get 800, you can make 5 mistakes on the math II and still score 800. Plus, an 800 on math II is more impressive than an 800 in math I.

yuyp right absolutely.. maths 2c is content wise and beyond all comparisions a better more balanced and superior knopwledge test . if u know the materials u shud ace it in no time.......

i still think maths level 1 proves ur accuracy ,..and ur strength in maths can be well seen with that too.....

If it helps saying.. i know ppl who got a 790maths level 1.. 800 level 2 with not much difficulty
