SAT Subject Scores

I have two subject scores: French 730, Math II 700. My ACT composite is 32. Should I even send the Math II score? Will it hurt me or just don’t make a difference? Thanks!

Bump. Same i got a 730 on math ii and i dont know whether to send or not.

The admissions officer at an info session this week said since they are optional, don’t send if they’re not good. She suggested that scores should be in the 700s, but then says that it depends given that the subjects differ so much in percentile rank for the same score. Given that those scores are in the 70 something percentile, I wouldn’t send. http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/highered/ra/sat/SubjTestPercentileRanks.pdf

Agree with above and heard similar advice. Since it is optional, only send what helps strengthen your application by their standards.

I would send the Math level 2 with a 730. The pool of students who take this subject test is self-selected. Many people applying to selective colleges or applying to enter a program in hard sciences or engineering. A 70% is respectable and shows willingness to take on higher level math. Might not be the best advice for an MIT applicant but I personally think a 730 on that exam shows readiness for college upper level math. I would throw anything in that range on the table. Shows decent testing ability commensurate with the course work taken.

@dt8050 I probably wouldn’t send either. They’re not bad scores but they won’t help your application.

@aeskimo 730 on Math II is borderline. It won’t impress anyone or help your application, but it won’t detract from it either, so it’s up to you. I personally wouldn’t send but I think Faline2’s reasoning is sound.

With an ACT composite of 32, I wouldn’t send the 730. They’re solid scores, but in the context of the Vanderbilt RD pool will probably seem somewhat at the lower end. The 32 ACT on its own says you’re qualified, but a 730 might raise doubts against you if there’s another comparable applicant with higher scores. Let your ACT say that you’re numerically qualified and hope that your essays and recs are stellar and will overcome this. This is just my opinion.
