Sat Subject Test: Chemistry Discussion June 2016

What was the answer to the question with the leftover products with the H20(L)? :-/

Let’s not discuss test questions. <3

I felt that the Chemistry test was average. There were some questions that I did not know, but probably 90% of the test was simple enough. I know I made at least one mistake and probably 3 more on the T/F/CE portion, but whatever. Hoping for a 770-790.

Ok. I’m too stressed because I was unsure about a handful. I would punish myself if I received a bad score (730 and under)…

So what is the curve out of 85? Some people are saying 75 and some are saying 80.

On the released test, a raw score of 82 or 83 is the curve for an 800. I’m pretty sure this curve won’t be as low as 75, but 80 is possible.

Uh oh. So I actually did fail because curve still won’t help my terrible performance on the test. Should I cancel scores? (Yes or no question) -YES -NO :frowning:

@WinnerWannabe I’m sorry I’m so depressed. I know you from the SAT Math II thread. At least I got a generously curved 800 on that…those were the good old days. I would be lucky to get above 730 on SAT Chemistry…The Chemistry exam shattered me. I already knew that I wasn’t the best at Chemistry and I should have listened to my gut to not take this SAT II. This is atrocious and poisonous to my life because I tried to excel at a weak SAT II topic. If I misperceive something like this in the future, it will have to result in a permanent end to my failures…something that will plague and decay away at my life until I decease. :frowning:

First few questions were “real world applications” that I wasn’t expecting

I’ll try not to talk about the questions because there’s no use; talking about them won’t help my score. It will either make me realize I failed or did well…I am 50% sure I’ll have to cancel my scores. Cancellation deadline is by Wednesday, right? I guess I’ll be ready… :frowning: :frowning: :frowning:

was the last page of the test on the right or the left?

also if you guys can remember, what were the last few questions on the test?

I’m not sure if I flipped to the last page, so if you guys could tell me whether the test ended on the right or left would help me a lot. Thanks.

@150230 it ended on the left

@puretruth this might be a stretch, but do you remember how many questions were on the last page?

@150230 It was three or four. I’m kind of leaning towards three, but i could be wrong.

@puretruth yea, i think i went to 67 and forgot to turn the page, oh well. I know i missed one question, so I guess i could still hit an 800 if i don’t get anything else wrong. I was considering cancelling my scores because i know i can easily hit 800, but if it was only three questions, i’ll take the hit. Time to see if i’m actually good at chemistry and can ace the rest.

Damn it. There are so many people who thought it was easy, giving them an 800. I guess I’ll cancel my scores ASAP now because I CAN’T get a decent score. @150230 You would cancel if you didn’t get 800? If that’s the case, I’ll have to cancel after I get back from school. What are your thoughts?

@1618dz If you really think getting an 800 in SAT chemistry is necessary for college, you have no idea how the admissions process works and I hope you change. I’m willing to bet there’s not a morsel of difference between a 750 and 800. SAT subject tests aren’t going to make or break your application so stop worrying.

There have been many students with 5 800’s on subject tests and a 2400 on the SAT AND a 36 on the ACT who get rejected from many schools they apply to. Just know you tried your best and focus more on your extracurricular activities.

I don’t think an 800 is necessary. I want a 740-800. I just hope the curve is generous.
