If I told my early school that I was going to take a subject test in november (on the common app), but ended up not taking it, what should i do? thanks!

Assuming that the college doesn’t require your score from it, just email your admissions rep saying something like “I just wanted to let you know that, even though I marked on my Common App that I would be taking ____ test in November, I ended up not taking it.” I think I’d recommend sending something so that they don’t think you took it but that your score was so bad that you didn’t want to send it.

@LAMun: Thanks! What if I told them I was going to take 2, but only took 1 today?

Same.

@skieurope : will it look bad?

No, assuming you will have me their subject test requirements.

@skieurope: yeah, i already submitted two subject tests from junior year. but would it look like I tried to bite off more than I could handle (which isn’t true, i just didn’t have time to study for the other subject)?

Actually, IMO, you’re better off. If you already had 2 and you took 1 today, you have more than enough. You don’t want to run the risk of adcoms thinking you’re nothing more than a test-taking drone.

@skieur: thats comforting to know haha. should i still send an email telling them, or should I just send them the score from that one test? is it OK if the score i send them is below 800? (my other two scores are 800, will it look like I dis-improved?) thanks for your responses :)
