Hey, I was wondering what are the best prep books to get a high score(700+) on the math subject 2 test. I plan on taking the test this fall. Are they any prep books that are particularly unhelpful or do not adequately prepare you to score high? What topics do you realllly need to know?

Princeton Review is phenomenal. Great at reteaching concepts that are only on the Math II, no extraneous information. Also great practice questions throughout the chapters and very similar tests to the real ones.

barron's can be really helpful for later questions on the test. however, I don't recommend starting with it as it can drive you insane in terms of difficulty

true that about barron's. figured math 2 wouldn't be so bad, bought barron's, almost cried, and, as it turns out, the actual exam is NOT hard! barron's is completely ridiculous.

Evaluate your skills as a math student. If you're confident you know most of the curriculum, just read up on sparknotes the misc. stuff you don't know (e.g. probability, permutations and combinations, sets, etc.) Then take the 2 practice tests in the CB math I and II book. If you're not confident, buy Barron's and work through it.

DO NOT BUY Barron's unless you dont mind that 90% (this is just a random numer) of the stuff that Barron's teaches you will never come out on the actual test.

Note that 100% of the SAT Math 2 is still in the book though. It adds extra and more difficult questions that if you can master will guarantee an 800.

i used sparknotes, barrons, blue book and kaplan.

I would say that the actual test is somewhere in between kaplan and the blue book. Sparknotes is okay too I guess but barrons is definately way out there and it's not that it's hard it just does not have the questions that are actually tested. But then again, I would think that it's best practice if you do exercices out of various prep books.
