SAT Subject Test Math II. Help Please. Barron's

hi,

i have been working on my maths for the past week as im doing the Math Level 2 subject test this weekend. I have been using the Barron's review book, as well as a few tests on spark notes.

For my Barron's tests i have gotten consistently between 730/740, and for the test i did on sparknotes i got a 780.

By doing these Barrons tests I have started getting really worried and I don't know what to do. People say the tests are harder, but are they really? I need to get a 790/800 for the actual test on saturday, and I am totally demotivated by the Barron's tests.

Thanks a lot for your time.

I believe the rule of thumb is high 600s or low 700s on a Barron’s practice tests is usually good enough to get you an 800 on the real exam.

thanks, really hope you’re right.

any other comments?

It’s true. I started studying (with the Barron’s book) a week before the test too, and I was becoming very discouraged with the scores I was getting. When I actually got to the test I was so relieved – the questions weren’t nearly as hard. I would say there’s an extremely high chance of you getting a 790/800. My scores on Barron’s were averaging around 660 and I got a 760 on the actual thing, so I’d say you’re safe. :)

I’m getting 780 and 800’s on Barron’s now. I don’t know if I’m fluking or what.

OR… you’re just good at math (: If you’re consistently getting 780’s and 800’s then I’d say you’re fine – for sure.

^Friend I know got 770 Barrons… 780 real thing

Well, there’s always going to be exceptions. But for the most part, I think that if you know the material in Barrons and do well on their practice tests, you’ll do well on the real test too.

Barron’s is the best! It’s a lot harder than the real tests, almost always, so if you do mediocre on a Barron’s practice test, you’ll do really well on the actual test (: It over-prepares you, but in a good way.
