SAT Subject Test questions for Cornell

1.) How important are they in the admissions decision (for the College of Arts and Sciences)?

2.) Will Cornell accept scores from the January '09 testing date (for Fall 2009 admission)?

1) pretty important bcuz it shows your interest if an SAT2 corresponds with your intended major. also very very important bucz its one of the objective measures that a school like cornell has to distinguish on person from another.

2) Yes i believe cornell does accepted it. I think its the last one they accept. I need this confirmed though.

Thanks, milessdude--that clarifies some things! The January testing date might be my lifesaver!

Another question: Say I submit 3 SAT II scores (although only 2 are requried for CAS) in the areas of Chemistry, U.S. History, and Literature. U.S. History and Literature are most likely going to correspond to my intended major--assume I have good/great scores for these tests. However, also assume that my Chemistry score is okay, but not really that good. Chemistry, while an interest of mine, will be the least likely of the three to parallel a potential major for me.
Will my lower Chem. score hurt me although the two tests which clearly are closest to my major entail great scores? Note that I cannot just send the Lit. and Hist. scores--I HAVE to send all three (stupid CollegeBoard).

I don't think it will hurt you because after the first two required SAT2s, extra SAT2s can only benefit you, unless they are terribly low as in below 500. Furthermore, the two US history and Literature SAT2s that do correspond to your major will be looked on favorably by the admissions officers at cornell. Good luck!

According to the Cornell Viewbook [url=http://admissions.cornell.edu/viewbook/]Cornell University Undergraduate Admissions Office - Viewbook/url, standardized tests need to be taken no later than December.

I have heard conflicting info about this over the past few weeks, so I would suggest calling the admissions office
