Does anyone know what kinds of scores are usually expected for admission to Brown’s PLME? I know it’s really selective so I want an idea of what kinds of scores have been accepted.

I just took the Physics Subject Test in June and didn’t feel too hot about it, so I’m especially wondering about the scores needed for the required science test.

Daughter accepted with a 700 on chem Sat II (800 on Math Sat I and Sat II); after a certain level, I think its more about your essays and medical and research related ECs.

Son is a PLME. Had 750-800 on Bio, Chem, Math2 SATIIs and each section of the SAT.

Sister got (not exactly but I kind of remember) 700 Bio 800 Chem and Math

Just accepted into PLME class of 2013/2017. I had a 800 in math IIC and chemistry and a 780 in bio, but as eagerdad stated, your essays and medical related ecs are the most important aspects (they demonstrate your passion for medicine).

What type of ECs are recommended? I’ve worked in a lab over the summer and I’m hopefully going to continue that throughout the year.
What else can I do? What did you guys do?

Also, what SAT II subject tests should I even take? My Guidance counselor isn’t helpful and neither is my brother. :[

And, lastly, am I required to take the ACT? Down here in NC, it’s all about the SAT and I’m aiming for a 2300+

According to the PLME site, “PLME candidates are advised to include a science test as one of the two required SAT Subject Tests.” ACT must include writing.

I was accepted to PLME '14/'18 and I’m glad to help.

ECs should obviously be medically related. Definitely shadow some doctors (its as easy as calling an office or a doctor you know and asking if you could shadow them, even for a day). This is really important in showing Brown that you know what medicine is actually like, they need to see that you have a mature and realistic sense of the career. Also try and take an EMT course. These are offered at many hospitals all over and it is not too difficult to become a certified EMT. This is the most realistic medical experience you can have and it will help you decide if a combined program and/or medical school is something you really want to pursue. Also focus on the “Liberal” aspect of the PLME. Do ECs that you are interested in. They want to see a well-rounded individual. Medicine can’t be the only thing you care about. Prove you’re a REAL person, not a machine.

ACT is not required but like jerzgrlmom said, if you submit it you must include the writing section.

As far as SAT II scores go, I’m not sure what the range PLME looks for, but I can share mine:

Chem 800
US History 740
Math II 710

If this was helpful I’m happy to address any other questions and concerns!

Thank you so much!
I’m definitely going to take the EMT course, and I got invited back to work in a lab for the entire year, so that will be good too!
You were extremely helpful, I believe I messaged you as well, do you mind responding to the questions in that? I’m sorry, I just have tons of questions. Thanks so much, good luck @ Brown.
