SAT Subject Test Scores --> Rejection?

I just got my subject test scores back and got a 690 on Chem and 800 on Math II. Will these scores get me rejected from top schools? Should I retake in January? How will the 690 impact me?

Thanks.

I’m wondering the same thing. I don’t think the 690 will hurt you

Well, I also just got my scores. 770 in Math II, and a surprising 680 in Physics :frowning:
I think I will only send the math score, but I would like to know what other people suggest you.

If the school in question doesn’t require subject tests, and doesn’t require you to send ALL or NONE, then it seems reasonable to hold back scores < 700. However, the 690 is close enough to the line that it shouldn’t sink an otherwise strong application. Is your SAT I strong?

As for attempting a re-take, how likely do you think you would improve on the Chem score? Are you taking Chem this year, or the information already fading from a prior year?

Advice to any juniors reading this thread…take your subject tests in the spring when you’re all full of AP test preparation and the information is freshest.

@VSGPeanut101‌ thanks for the reply. My act is strong in my opinion (34 Composite; 34 W, 34 M, 35 R, 34 S, 11 Essay) with a 35 super score (perfect on math). I’ll probably end up retaking the chemistry on in January if I get deferred from MIT since I applied EA. I am currently taking IB Chemistry Higher Level, though the material/options don’t really focus on subject test content (focus is more O-Chem, Drugs, Food Chem, Environmental Chem)…

Not sure what to do at this point either. I bombed my Math SATII. I didn’t even take the Level 2 test because I really didn’t feel confident that we had covered much of the material in trig. So I took the Level 1 (hey, MIT said they had no preference), felt really good the test day, only to get a 680 on it @-) I really felt like I had it. Rocked the physics part though! :D

My problem is - should I self report my math score on the common app? I put on my previous applications that I would be taking the math subject test, do schools get updated if I self report scores? The only schools I have left to apply to are USC, and maybe Stanford and Princeton. I know stanford cares, but IDK about USC.
