sat subject test scores?

I’m a senior and I just got my scores back for subject tests. My ACT score is the top .5 percentile or something but all of my SAT subject tests are in the 50-70th percentiles. I didn’t prep for them before I took them but I’m wondering why I did so much worse? I’m applying to ivies and I’m wondering if I should even submit these scores. Thanks!

No don’t submit those scores.

You answered yourself on “why did I do bad?”
You didn’t study.

Listen to ucaddict at your peril, it’s nonsense.

Percentiles on SAT subject tests reflect the fact that mostly top students take these tests.

With respect to standardized scores, even top colleges use them to be sure you are capable of doing top college level work. Your ACTs coupled with those SAT subject tests will clear any and all top college numerical score thresholds (except, perhaps, top engineering schools that may have higher thresholds for math and science SAT 2s).

Once you pass that threshold it will all come down to the non-numerical criteria.

And if you spend your time studying for SAT 2s to increase your score by a few 10s of points you won’t be spending your time doing the things that will make your application really appealing to top college adcoms.

@ucaddict I meant to clarify in my initial post that I didn’t prep for my ACT either, so that’s why I was confused.

@parsoc That’s reassuring. I’m not planning to go into engineering or anything similar. Thanks so much for your response.
