SAT subject tests and analyzed writing portion of Common App for SLC

Hi, I had a couple of questions about the SLC Common App question that asks for a graded analytical paper with teacher comments. Do you think I will be penalized if I don’t submit this? I have a paper I could use, and I got a good grade on it, but my professor didn’t leave very many comments on the paper and it doesn’t really “reflect” on the interactions I had with this professor. She is also going to be one of my recommendation letters and I don’t want that to negatively impact the effect of her letter.

However, I participated in a writing program online with professional mentors during high school, and I have a couple of pieces from that website that have good feedback on them, although they are not analytical pieces. Does anyone have any advice?

Also, will I be penalized for not having SAT subject tests? My guidance counselor told me that I wouldn’t need to take them unless I was applying to an Ivy. I’ve recently found out that’s not true, but I’m afraid it’s too late for me to take any subject tests. My SAT score is okay for SLC, I think (1380 math + reading).

Thank you in advance!

I think you should submit the analytical paper anyways. When I applied I was in the same situation and I sent one with very few teacher comments and I got in. I think they focus more on your other essays.

You will not be penalized for not having SAT subject tests. Most people don’t even submit those, I never took any subject tests but I did submit my math and reading scores.

SLC is test optional, so I don’t think the lack of SAT subject tests is an issue. Your regular SAT is above average for SLC, however, so I would send it.
