SAT Subject tests and some other random questions =]

I know UMich doesn't require it, but do you think it'll help me if I take 2 SAT subject tests and do well? I really don't want to take any more standardized tests, but if it'll help me get in, I'll take em.

Also: I know U of M likes to see upward trends in grades, but do they mean an upward trend in your normal GPA, or your U of M GPA? Just wondering because my UMich GPA jumps from a 3.7 soph to a 4.0 junior year =] My UW GPA also has one, but its not as obvious.

And: A 4 credit college course (dual enrolling) counts as 1 high school credit, right?

Finally: For a trimester school, I know that 1 trimester courses are half credit, and 2 tri courses are 1 full credit. Is it the same for semester schools(1 sem = half credit, full year = full credit)? I attend a trimester school for half the day, and a semester school for the second half...lol

Thanks very much for all the help! Just making sure I have all this info correct on my app!

Of course they’ll help you! A lot! They show your initiative to take them, especially since they’re not required for U Mich (didn’t know that). And they’ll showcase your abilities if you do well.

Not really sure what your second question means. You’re in high school, right? Of course they’re talking about your normal GPA, how many do you have?

Can’t help you out with the last one.

I don’t think they will help. U of M says that its not required, so it would be unfair to give preference to kids who happened to have taken it. Even if it does help, it’s definitely not “a lot”.

They look at the entirety of your high school grades. They just count sophomore and junior year towards GPA, but they look at everything when determining trends.

And why are you so hung up about high school credits?

Umm Biggie what makes you say that? I dont think they hurt, but they definitely don’t help “a lot”, especially since they aren’t required.

sub, I just wanted to make sure I got down all of my credits correctly on my application. I got to 2 high schools (1 with trimesters and 1 with semesters) and I take classes at a community college so I want to make sure it’s all correct on my app.

biggie, I’m in high school and I had to take my foreign language classes at a community college because they weren’t offered at my school.

Thanks again for the help =] Sorry for the random specific questions. I’m kinda obsessed about getting into UMich right now lol.
