i took the sat subject tests back in october and my scores were: math 2: 740. biology: 730. langauge that is the langauge of instuction in the school i'm in although it's not my native language: 800. I doubt the third test really counts so I'm talking more about the first two. I signed up for the SAT subject tests in january because I think I can improve my scores on math and biology. My question is: which one of the following things should I do- 1. state my current scores on the application and also state my future testing date. 2. don't state my current scores and send the january ones when they come out (this way I'm not fulfilling the app requirements by the jan. 1 deadline) 3. state my current scores and NOT state that I'm planning to take the tests again on january (only send if they're better). 4. not even take the tests on january since the scores are not that bad.
I'm just totally confused as to what will be the best thing to do. Thanks!

They are really not that bad, but if you feel you could improve them, I would put your old test scores on the application for sure, but I wouldn’t say anything about taking new ones and I would just send them later if they’re better. The scores are good enough to be in Harvard’s “range” so asserting the fact that you want to squeeze another 30 or 40 points out of them is not worth mentioning.

Remember, they are subject tests. That means they are knowledge tests. If you can improve upon those scores in January, then I doubt the lower scores will hurt you, because it shows you learned more. I would send them, because worst comes to worst, you still have scores in.

Thanks you both so much!
dwighteisenhower-- the mention would be just putting the subjects i’m planning on taking as part of my testing history (they allow putting dates in the future), they wouldn’t be stated under “additional information” or something. Do you still think it’s not worth it? you probably knew and meant all this but I just want to make sure.
hahalolk-- do you also agree I shouldn’t state that I’m planning on taking the january tests?

I don’t think it would matter much if you stated you were planning on retaking the subject tests. I can’t see why it would hurt you, but I’m no admissions official.
