I am considering to apply early decision for CMU. It requires me to take 2 SAT subject tests and I will be taking them in December. Can I apply for early decision without those 2 tests and send them after I get the results?

CMU unfortunately is not very clear on their website. Under standardized testing they say you can take tests up until Dec:

[Carnegie Mellon Admission](http://admission.enrollment.cmu.edu/pages/standardized-test-requirements)

However, if you are planning on applying ED1, decisions are sent Dec 15:

[Carnegie Mellon Admission](http://admission.enrollment.cmu.edu/pages/early-decision-plans)

Since Dec SAT scores aren’t available until Dec 20, that’s not going to work:

[SAT Score Availability - SAT Score Delivery Calendar](<a href=“The SAT – SAT Suite | College Board”>Getting SAT Scores – SAT Suite of Assessments | College Board)

It might be possible to use Dec scores for ED2, but even then, I’d give CMU a call to be sure.

Would this work if I’m applying ED I and taking the subject test on November 3rd?

If it were me, I’d call and confirm that the Nov sitting would be considered for ED1.

Data: RD is Jan 1; "Please plan on taking these tests no later than December of your senior year. "

Implication: Have test scores on or BEFORE due date for application.

Data: ED1 is Nov 1; ED1 Decision Dec 15; SAT II Nov 3 test scores reported around Nov 25 (you can look it up).

Implication: Not much time for them to review your file.

Nov testing should be fine for ED2.
