Sat Subject Tests for Premed?

I’m a sophomore planning on going the premed route in college. Already took the Bio E Sat II and did well. Here are two arguments I’ve heard:

  1. you ought to take the Chem SAT II if you want to go premed cuz science
  2. you don’t need to take the chem SAT II because you already did well on bio, and colleges typically want a range of subject tests to show your capabilities. Take Math II and lit instead.

Should I take the chem sat II this June? I am currently taking chemistry honors and have an A… Initially I wasn’t going to take it but after hearing argument 1 I’m reconsidering. Will definitely take the Math 2 at some point. From what I’ve heard from upperclassmen, the chem sat 2 covers a lot of material we don’t learn in class.

Are you planning to take AP Chem in junior year? If so, take the SAT II Chem in May or June of that year.

Otherwise, I would focus on Math II, since it’s probably easier to get a high score, and nearly all schools only need 2 subject scores.
