Sat Subject tests for Track/Xc recruits

I'm receiving interest from many schools, D1 and D3, and I was wondering if i would need to take sat subject tests if im a recruited athlete and if so how many? I know that they are not required, simply reccomended but I dont want to screw up anything.
The Schools range from Penn State to UVA if it helps. Thanks!

Here’s a link to a chart that shows which schools require SAT Subject Tests:

[Compass: Admissions Requirements](<a href=“SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations - Compass Education Group”>SAT Subject Test Requirements and Recommendations - Compass Education Group)

I don’t think that being a recruited athlete changes testing requirements.

What are your times for the half?
Stats as well?

Most likely, you won’t need to, unless requested by the coach. It really depends how much the coach wants you, depending on times, and how much pull they have.

Its impossible to give a definite yes or no answer without knowing the school, and times, and the admissions tendencies specific to each school in terms of favoritism towards athletes.

You would only need to take them if the school requires them. I don’t believe they have any impact on recruitment.

The list referenced above contains incorrect information. Three things:

  1. Some colleges require SATII for certain majors only or to be placed into Honors program
  2. Some colleges accept ACT+Writing instead of SAT II
  3. Those who want SATIIs usually ask for 2 scores but you can take more and they most probably will use your 2 best scores.
You need to go to the web site of every potential choice and carefully read admission requirements for your program. Only after that you can make a decision that SATII are not needed. If SATIIs are only 'recommended" then recruited athlete will get into strong athlectic program without them. Talk to the coach. If you homeschool then D3 may want to see more tests. Instead of doing this research - just take them to have more options open. You do not have to send them if the results are not good. You never know - maybe your role will be to compensate for weaker academics of your teammates:)

Don’t confuse strongly recommended with not required. Be smart. Take the Subject Tests. I think UVA requires any two. Don’t know about Penn State.

And congrats! You must be a stud for UVA to be recruiting. They have upped the ante on their track recruiting recently w/their new coach.

Thanks for all the help, i think i’m going to take them but i’m running out of weekends to take them because of the two available, one date falls on my state sectionals and I’d like to take the other to improve my original sat score. Can I take the subject tests early in the fall of next year, say September or October, and still be able to send them to the schools that require/reccomend them?
Thanks again!

Don’t know a thing about athletic recruiting (other than what I have read here), but can confirm that the subject tests are offered in Oct, not Sept. Ignoring athletics, an ED applicant would need to send the scores blind in order to reach the school for the ED deadline. Athletic recruiting may have an expedited schedule?

The ACT is offered the first Sat after Labor Day, so if you are truly running out of weekends, you may want to consider that test. The ACT will also be offered June 8th. I realize this is a whole new test to take, but it may be available weekends that you are free.
