SAT Subject Tests - Georgetown

I have yet to find a definitive answer to this question.

Georgetown recommends that you submit 3 SAT subject tests. And it doesn’t allow score choice, so if you have taken one of the tests more than once then you need to submit all the scores.

But what if you have taken 4 SAT subject tests? Do you need to submit all 4, or can you just submit 3. This is more like “test choice” as opposed to “score choice.”

To be clear, the Georgetown website is not a model of clarity on this point. Initially, it states:

“Georgetown requires that you submit scores from all test sittings of the SAT, ACT, and SAT II Subject Tests.”

This seems to suggest that you need to submit all 4 scores. But then it states:

“SAT Subject Tests - It is strongly recommended that all candidates, whether they have taken the SAT Reasoning Test or the ACT, submit three SAT Subject Tests scores. The scores from writing portion on the SAT Reasoning Test and the optional writing portion of the ACT will not be used in place of a Subject Test.”

This seems to suggest that you only need to “submit three SAT Subject Test scores” even if you have taken more than three tests. So, should the initial statement be interpreted as:

“Georgetown requires that you submit scores from all test sittings of the SAT, ACT, and [the three] SAT II Subject Tests [you submit]”?

Not sure there’s a clear answer to this. Thanks for your help.

Yes, there is a clear answer. You need to send all four Subject Test scores.

I agree w @londondad you need to submit all 4 scores.

At my school, which has a strong track record at G’town, kids send 3 subject test and not more if they are not a boost to the application

I disagree. They want you to put your best foot forward, and they want to see a minimum of 3 subject test scores. The climate is such that many schools are even backing away from Subject Tests. If the fourth will hurt your app, don’t send it. The spirit is they want at least 3, and every sitting of each of those tests. Again the spirit here is they want to see if initially you scored low, and then with effort, you were able to raise them (not necessarily a bad thing.) But when they ask for 3, and the fourth hurts your app, don’t send it. I don’t think that’s what they want, but as always take advice here with a grain of salt and check with your College Counselor or Guidance Counselor.

@wisteria100 and @preppedparent That is not correct, GU wants all scores to be sent.

I agree with you that they will probably focus on the 3 best scores, but their website is clear that they want all 4 scores.
