S20 has a small list of schools he’s applying to. – Safety and Reach schools. One highly recommends SAT subject tests. Up till just recently we didn’t know what they were, our Guidance Counselor didn’t either. He’s looking at registering for the Nov or Dec Test. He’s a fall varsity athlete and Dec works so much better.
So - is the Dec test too late for college admissions? I can’t seem to find when results are posted after the test. I think it’s a stretch for him to do the NOV test.
ALSO: do the results have to be submitted along with applications, or can they be submitted later? Does he need to have those results by Dec 30?
If he does take the subject tests, I would have him choose to send directly from Collegeboard to Georgetown at the time of taking the test…they will get there faster and you have to submit all the test results anyway.
no- not Georgetown. BUT thanks for your thoughts - I just looked up the school (rice) and it does say how the Dec 7 is the last applicable date! No idea why we didn’t check that out ourselves first. aghhh. It’s going to be a long few months I think!
Be assured that there is enough time preparing for the test on Dec 7. Most likely, your son already knows the material, and just needs to condition himself (again) to concentrate for a 3-hour period; I know that it is not an easy task but he can do it. Good luck.
Every college that requires or recommends subject tests accepts Dec subject tests for regular admission (mentioned above is Georgetown’s reference to accepting Jan tests but there is no longer a Jan SAT testing date). Moreover, if you order the test scores sent via regular delivery on the day such scores are released online, they will be timely delivered to those colleges (they will most likely be delivered before Jan 1, and all colleges that still require or recommend subject tests accept scores that arrive shortly after their application deadline dates).
