SAT Subject tests & NU Intervew

Okay I have a few (specific) questions that I couldn’t seem to find the answer to in other threads on this forum:

I’m planning on applying ED, so how neccessary is an interview? How much does it help get you accepted?

I’m taking the SATIIs this Saturday in US History & Literature. However I’m applying to Northwestern as some sort of Science major (WCAS). Should I take the SAT Subject Test in Math 2 too?

My ACT Score is a 31: 35 English, 33 Reading, 30 Math, 27 Science., 10 writing. How bad will it look that I did my worst on Math and Science and best on English & Reading when I’m a science major? Should I apply as a different major instead? Because I was thinking psychology and it’s starting to seem like a better and better idea everytime.

How hard would it be to take a summer class at NU in General Chemistry 101 in three weeks? because I’m doing this College Prep Program this summer and I was thinking about taking GenChem, but the only Chem experience I have is 1 year of Chemistry honors.

Sorry this is soo long! if you have an answer to ANY of these questions, it would be much appreciated. Thanks!!

I think the interview is more of an information session than anything and i believe it does not carry much weight at all. I didn’t do an interview at all nor was I even contacted about setting one up.

Math 2 is always a strong subject test to have. I know certain programs require the sat II math but if you just want to get into WCAS, math II isn’t necessary.

What major you put down on your application doesnt matter at all. Feel free to put down whatever you wish; it wont affect your chances.

Dont know about 5, sorry.

My D did not have an interview and still got in. I do think you might want to bring your scores up a bit. 31 Composite is a bit on the low side for Avg NU admits. I agree that SAT II - Math 2 is an important test as well. Good luck. I know my D is excited about attending NU in the fall.

In response to the first question, contact the UG admission and/or the alumni association to see if there are any local alumni in your area who you could do an interview with. If you can get one, it’s just one more way of showing your interest and might help you stand out a bit if not many other ED applicants have an interview.
