Do colleges prefer SAT Subject tests or AP tests?

Some schools require SAT II’s to apply. I’ve never heard of a school that requires AP exams

^New York University.

[General Requirements](<a href=“How to Apply”>How to Apply)

^Well, for NYU, you have the choice of submitting AP’s in lieu of SAT II’s, but it’s not like you can’t apply without AP’s

True, but i was just providing an information.

I took honors US hist. and didn’t take the AP exam. Later I regretted this, so I studied up for the SAT II using sparksnotes and my notes. I ended up getting a 680, which at the school im going to is the equivelent of a 5. 6 hours. ba zing. gotta love that. but it really boils down to your college.

Yeah, and I think it makes sense to be able to use AP’s instead of SAT II’s. I’m surprised more schools don’t do it…

^Agree. AP is much more rigorous than SAT II.

But the SATII also differentiates where the AP can’t (1 through 5 versus 200 through 800). Although I will admit that the SATII is a bit easier, doesn’t include free responses, and has a scoring system that is more prone to letting extraneous factors affect it.
