SAT Subject Tests Question!

Okay, so I've already taken 3 SAT IIs, one good score--and two pretty bad scores. I'm thinking of sending one of the ehh scores too though. Can I do this? I know Georgetown says we do not need SAT II scores if we apply EA (which is what I'm planning on doing), but can I only send one or two of my scores from that sitting?
Also, I'm planning on taking two more SAT IIs in October.

Thanks in advance.

Call the admissions office to make sure I’m right about this… but here’s what I understand the protocol to be: if you have taken any SAT IIs, you have to send them for EA. Period. However, if you haven’t taken SAT IIs at all, they won’t hold it against you ONLY FOR EA. As well, if you take SAT IIs in October, they will be at Georgetown in time for the Adcom to review them and consider them, but you might not be able to see the score before the get there… so it’s a bit risky.

subject tests are only strongly recommended, not required. look it up

@Ny0rker. Are you talking about for EA? Because if you are, then you are not entirely correct. If you aren’t, you are completely wrong.
If you’re applying RD, you have to submit them. Period. End of story. Goodnight.
If you are applying EA, you are recommended to send them, as you said. But if you have taken 1 or 2 or 3, then you MUST send them. I talked to an admissions officer and that’s straight from their mouth. As well, as I said above, if you are choosing to take SAT IIs in October, they will be at Georgetown by the deadline (assuming you have specified before the test date that the scores be sent to Georgetown). The drawback is that the scores will probably arrive at Georgetown before you have a chance to see them.

And so, YOU look it up.

@neogop. so I looked it up like you requested ever so nicely. SAT subject tests are recommended for Georgetown admissions.

SAT & ACT Policies
For admission decisions:

* Required: SAT Reasoning Test or ACT

 • If submitting ACT, the writing section is optional
 • Recommended: SAT Subject Tests

Source: [College Search - Georgetown University - SAT®, AP®, CLEP®](<a href=“College Search - BigFuture | College Board”>College Search - BigFuture | College Board)

Actually, it’s probably better to go straight from the source, Ny0rker. Sometimes the College Board messes up. Never use a secondary source when you can use a primary one.

SAT Subject Tests

All candidates, whether they submit scores from the SAT or ACT, are requested to submit scores from three SAT Subject Tests of their choice. The scores from writing portion on the SAT and the optional writing portion of the ACT will not be used in place of a Subject Test.

That’s straight from the Georgetown Undergraduate Admissions website.
[Georgetown University- Office of Undergraduate Admissions](http://uadmissions.georgetown.edu/applying_firstyear_preparation.cfm)

that is true but the word “requested” can be interpreted in different ways…it doesn’t necessarily mean that they are needed… why not use the word “required”

Personally, I can’t speak for the person who wrote that who did not say “required.” You’re right, they should have said “required.” But they said “requested” which means that Georgetown is “asking” the students to send in 3 SAT IIs. It basically means required. If you read more, the website says you have to send in a note outlining special circumstances for not turning in 3 SAT IIs by the RD deadline. But if you choose to think that they are not required and do not send them, by all means don’t send them. It’ll open a spot for someone else.

And stop arguing about little technicalities. Being wrong isn’t the end of the world.
And take my word for it. I took the time out of my day to discuss this very subject with someone in the admissions department. And I am very certain of my understanding of this requirement.

did anyone here NOT take any subject tests but DID get in (as a transfer or regular app)?

on a somewhat separate note, is it ok two take 2 of the 3 subject tests in the same type of subject? for example: i took math 2 and both world and united states history
