SAT Subject tests scores-how are they viewed?

I know two SAT II tests are required in order to apply for BU. My question, how important are these scores during the admission process? If you get a score in the 500s or 600s, but everything else looks fine, will this severely affect your chances?
Just curious.
Thanks.

It's really hard...considering none of us are in that room when they're making decisions. I got the impression that SAT IIs matter a decent amount.

Definitely try to boost those scores by retaking the tests. Otherwise, you can just take the ACT and not submit SAT IIs all together.

But, I don't think two bad SAT IIs will kill your app...but, if the other stuff isn't okay, it might hurt.

You don't even have to submit SAT IIs as long as you take the ACT with writing (which is generally much easier).

The only exception is if you are applying for an accelerated program.

i'm not really sure how much it matters. i submitted 3 subject test scores and the ACT with writing. i got a 580 on one, a 620 on another, and a 680 on the last one and i got accepted so i really have no clue how it factors into their decision. it may be just something they look at and take into account, but i doubt it makes a significant difference on whether or not they accept you.

I got a 600 on the U.S. History test and it didn't seem to hurt.

Oh, I'd love to substitute SAT Subject Tests with ACT with writing! The only problem is, I already registered and I don't want to cancel.. So I guess I'd just go, take the tests and hope for the best..
Thanks for all your responses!

Just curious, what tests are you taking, and which school do you want to get in?

My friend got both subject tests in the mid- to low-600s and got in. Don't worry too much about it.

i dont wanna say 'dont worry' cuz i might've just gotten lucky, cuz my gpa is only slightly above the average entering gpa (3.8 weighted), and my essays were probably the best part of my app.
but i got:

cr - 550
m - 650
w - 580

and to top it off
math IIC - 590
french - 530

and i got into the business program =D
i also sent my shi-tty ACT score of 25 in.
oh btw im an international student.

I had 700s on my normal SAT and got a 540 on the Spanish SAT II with two 600s as well in Math IIC and US History and still got accepted.

yeah i had
560 physics
630 math ii
680 math i
and i still got in

i got a 550 in spanish with listening (710 math I and 700 lit) and i still got in with a pretty big scholarship. i wouldnt worry too much.

Then I'll just go ahead and take SAT Math II and US Hist this saturday and get it over with. If I feel like I screwed both of them up, I'll cancel my scores. :D

if you're not going into anything heavily math related, i suggest you just take Math IC cuz your scores will look more appealing.
