SAT Subject tests! Stress attack!

When do you guys recommend taking the SAT Subject tests? Can I take them early senior year or do you think it will be too late?

My HS doesn't allow us to take more than 1 AP science course per year (and we have to take a year of a prep class prior to taking the real AP class). I am pursuing a career in the medical field, but since I'm only taking AP Bio this year, does that mean I can only take one SAT science test this year?! I want to take the Chem SAT II, but I don't know much about it right now, but I'm taking the AP class next year. However, I'm applying for colleges at the beginning of senior year, so ... WHAT IN THE WORLD?! I'M GOING TO EXPLODE!

What SAT subject tests do you all recommend a person who wants to enter the medical field take?

I * the ones I think I should take:

Literature
U.S. History (formerly American History and Social Studies)
World History
Mathematics Level 1 (formerly Mathematics IC)
Mathematics Level 2 (formerly Mathematics IIC) *
Biology E/M*
Chemistry*
Physics*
Any languages?

are four too much?

Four are okay.
Why do you take Math I when you're going to take Math II?

No school will require/recommend more than three, so you shouldn't feel obliged to take tests you're not totally confident about. Math II and Bio E or M are both good ideas. If none of the schools you're considering require three (only a handful do) then you don't have to take any more if you don't want to. If you need three or want to take more to demonstrate mastery of other subjects then you should, especially since you have the score choice option and can choose not to send a day's results if you don't like them.

Most schools require only a math and a science, and from the looks of things you plan to do just that. No need to kill yourself and do an extra few, if you do not feel like you will get a good score. By good score I mean the same range as your other scores from tests you have already taken.

Thanks for the advice, everyone!

Do you think it would be too late to take SAT subjects at the beginning of senior year?

Slightly off topic, but when do colleges start accepting applications? What about Early Decision/Action? When does that start? I want my SAT scores to be ready by then.

No, it's not. I took mine during the senior year.
But it'd be better have them done by sr yr and focus more on your applications.
Some colleges start accepting app's as early as in Sept.

Most colleges will accept up to November scores for ED/EA and up to December or January (check with each school) for regular.

Unless you're applying to one of the four schools (I think it's Harvard, Princeton, Georgetown and I don't remember the other one...) that requires three SAT IIs, just taking Bio and Math II will be plenty.

If you're taking AP Bio this year, I'd suggest taking the SAT II in May or June so that you still remember the material.
