SAT Subject Tests to Compensate low ECs?

I have only a handful of ECs (Beta Club, SNHS, NHS, Spanish Club) and leadership experience (2 years of ROTC, club founder/copresident, SNHS officer) and I'm planning on submitting 5 subject tests to GA Tech. Three of them in languages: Spanish, French, Japanese. The other two in Math I (because I haven't taken calculus yet) and Biology. I got a 730 in Spanish and I feel confident that I'll get similar scores (700+) on Japanese and French. I haven't had any formal education (e.g. classroom instruction), outside experience, nor am I a native speaker. Will this compensate in some way for my lack of ECs? I want to major in engineering and minor in something related to language. My WGPA right now at the end of my junior year is 4.08 and UWGPA is 3.6. I'm in IB and I have taken 2 AP courses.

I mean not really. Very few colleges bother with subject tests.

Subject tests and EC involvement demonstrate two very different qualities in a potential students… You could take ALL the subject tests and it’s not going to fill a hole from lack of involvement.

That being said, your ECs seem absolutely fine for a school like Georgia Tech. Engineering programs in particular seem to care a bit less about your involvement.

There is no calculus on Math II, so you shouldn’t have any problems with taking it. It also has a much more generous curve than math I.

@CSIHSIS I heard that if you get 50 points or higher than the average for a Subject Test, then it is strengthens your application.

@Pancaked I see your point. I thought of it a bit like high SAT scores making up for a slightly-less-than-average GPA. I didn’t know about that bit about engineering programs focusing less on ECs though. Thanks for the support!

@SAT128 Looks like I had some bad information about Math II. Good to know!

Thanks for all the responses everybody! This was my first forum post on CC.
