Okay so I have a 1800 and 1870 on two normal SAT tests. My super score is a 1910. While I realize this is a good score it's not at the caliber desired from many top tier schools. I might just be setting my hopes too high but I feel these tests do not accurately reflect my academic ability and success. My question is if I were to excel in SAT subject tests(Math 2, Biology M, Chemistry, and possibly Physics), would they properly outweigh my low SAT scores. I'm new to this website so any advice and insight is appreciated. Also my gpa(3.97 UW) and extra curricular activities are well rounded(NHS, Eagle Scout, HOBY, Varsity Golf/Baseball, Church groups/volunteering, tons of job shadowing) I realize college admissions is a holistic process and one test can't deny me entry but I know they create an extremely high bar which is sometimes hard to achieve without proper guidance.

If you mean top schools as in like Harvard, etc., they’re going to want top scores on both. Maybe try the ACT.

Admission to some colleges is not holistic but based on grades and test scores. Highly competitive schools are holistic and you are right to be concerned that your scores make them difficult to get into. SAT2s won’t overcome lower SATs. I agree with trying the ACT. Some people just do better with that test.

My advice would be to get 750’s in these subject tests (May or June) then try the ACT in September, see if you can score 29-30. If you’re confident you can do better in the SAT Subjects, you may be underperforming with the SAT and some students do better with one test or the other, so why not try for the ACT?
