I'm class of 2014, so I heard we aren't required to take any SAT Subject Tests
Would taking these tests be good, or does it not matter?

I have no idea where you’ve heard that??? Subject tests are not “required”, except by individual schools. Some want 0, some want 3. These tests are helpful to show mastery of the topic.

@ OP, some schools do require you to take it (2-3 preferably) and I’m also taking it although it is not “required”. It shouldn’t be quite difficult if you enjoy the subject. Plus they are reasonably easy.

Starting 2012, UC’s cut out the requirement of 2 SAT Subject Tests. Although they noted that this does NOT mean that won’t be considered in the application. I don’t know about other colleges, it might be different.

So yes, I say it would enhance your application to take them(if you get a good score).

OP - Was it a buddy of yours who told you this? May be they dont want you taking the tests.

Even if schools don’t require them, if you’re very good in a subject they can help to highlight your strengths.

For example, you’re really good at chemistry and want to be a pre-med major in college. Why not take the Chem SAT II to show schools that you really mean business and understand the material.

I took World History last year because I excelled in the course and I definitely am glad I took it. Another good score to add to a college app can’t hurt!

okay, thanks guys!
