SAT Subject Tests?

Hi everyone,

I got 760CR/800M/800W on the last SAT (took it for the first time) for a total 2360, and was pretty excited (not going to take it again, obviously). I'm a junior in HS.

Now, I took a couple of AP tests last year (world and calc BC). This year I'm taking 4 (APUSH, Lang, Stats, and Physics B). A few people have told me that I should take SAT Subject tests as well, but talking with my parents, they have told me that they aren't necessary and that my APs/SAT are enough. I'm taking college-level math this year, so they don't want me to do Math 1/2, etc.

My question is, should I take any SAT subject tests? Would it be worth my while?

Thanks in advance.

Some colleges require subject tests, especially the upper tier schools, for entrance. If you are aiming for the Ivy leagues or similar level, then they will likely require that you take some subject tests (typically two). Check each individual school’s website for their policy concerning subject tests.

Also, it is often a good idea to pair subject tests with the AP, for example, taking the AP bio test along with the bio subject test. That way, you will two birds with one stone, so to speak.
