S hopes to attend UVA in Fall 2013. UVA recommends but does not require two SAT Subject Tests. As he in interested in Engineering (and/or Mathematics), he signed up for Math 2 and Physics Subject tests on May 5. Now his current Physics teacher says that their class has only covered 50-60% of the subject matter featured on the Subject Test. If he gets a low score on the Physics test, should he not send results to UVA, and plan to take another Subject test in the fall? Is it possible to send one Subject test score but not both for any one sitting date? Finally, if he were to study and "make up" the missing Physics subject matter over summer in anticipation of re-taking the Physics subject test in fall, would the university put a higher value on this new score over the previous one?

Yes:

Is there another science AP class that he is currently taking and could sit that Subject test instead, Chem or Bio?

UVA accepts Score Choice and says they will only look at the highest scores, so having an earlier, lower score shouldn’t hurt him.

Has he seen the practice questions and subjects covered for the Math 2 on the CB website?
