SAT subject tests

Hey guys,

Alright, I've made this type of thread already, but I feel the urge to make yet another one.

In short, I am applying ED to Cornell College of Arts and Sciences. I am taking the Math II and Biology E subject tests this November, but I was thinking of taking another one (I know that Nov is the last possible date I can take a test), so I want to make it count.

However, I'm in sort of a dilemma. First off, I want to ask, for those of you who are familiar with the admissions process, if CAS really does look favorably upon certain subject tests than others (although it says ANY two). Secondly, does admissions care if I take two or would three be better? Thirdly, the third test that I probably will take this Nov is Literature.

This leads nicely to my final question: My intended major is Political Science, so would US History or Literature look better? - they're both humanities/liberal arts tests.
Please refer to the two links below:

Thank you guys so much for reading this. I know this is a huge bother, but I really need the help! Again, thanks a lot!! :D

Bump, please help me out!

Take the two that you think you’ll score the highest in. I don’t think anyone can judge just how much, if any weight is put on the subject test scores…sometimes I wonder if it is more about the Collegeboard’s profit margin, than a tool used by admissions.

Why do people here think that scores from Nov tests will be accepted for ED? Have prior applicants taken Nov exams and had the results considered for ED admission? I am sincerely curious as I have read Cornell’s requirements to say that everything must be submitted by Nov 1st.

@csdad, so CAS does not look favorably upon certain subject tests (liberal arts/humanities), and 2 tests are sufficient?

I have no idea what they look at…they are fairly evasive regarding the Subject tests. Don’t over think it, take 2 that you think you’ll be in the best position to do well on.

No guarantee that Nov. scores will be in time. Here is a great blog from Cornell admissions on ED: [A Blog for Early Decision Applicants | Undergraduate Admissions Office](http://blogs.cornell.edu/admissions/2012/09/24/a-blog-for-early-decision-applicants/)

For the Nov SAT, the SAT is on Nov 2nd. Looking at the comments in the blog link above, I think if you select Cornell to be one of the direct score recipient before hand you can still take the Nov test. The gamble is that you must be confident that this score is a good one because you won’t have a chance to look at it first before “OK-ing” the send off.

Cornells website says november is the last date to take tests

…Cornell does not participate in “score choice”, they will see your score regardless, in addition it does no good to try and “hide” “poor” scores, they “superscore” (SAT I) and disregard lower scores.
