If I’m only focusing on the ACT, should I also take sat subject tests to strengthen my application? the schools Im applying to are NYU, Notre Dame, UNC CH, Columbia, FSU, and Boston college
Bump
I don’t really have an answer. Here is a link to a list of colleges that recommend or will consider SAT subject tests if they will enhance your application. http://www.■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■/subject-test-requirements-and-recommendations/ If you think you can do well (above 750 and for some of the subject tests more like 780 and above) and preparation will not take away from your coursework, then you could take two. The other thing to consider is that you could decide to add another school to your list over the summer and that school might require subject tests. I know a few kids who had to scramble for that third subject test the fall of their senior year when they decided to apply to Georgetown.
FSU does not use subject tests for admission. For NYU, you can meet testing requirement by submitting SAT, ACT, three AP scores, or three SAT subject test scores. Thus, you do not need subject tests if you submit ACT or SAT, and unless you want to take three so you meet that different test score option, you likely should not bother. Columbia accepts ACT in lieu of both SAT and subject tests. However, it will consider subject tests even if you are relying on ACT for admission, and thus they could possibly help a little there but are not necessary. ND, UNC, and BC consider subject tests if submitted and they do so whether you submit SAT or ACT, and thus they could provide a little help for those colleges but are not necessary.
@drusba thanks! Would it look bad if I only take and submit one subject test?
