Hi, I recently received my SAT scores and I am I very happy with them (I will not be taking the SAT again). I was wondering if I should send these to UT now (because sending scores in this early shows interest) or wait until I take my SAT Subject tests in October? Idk if UT considers (though I know they don’t require) SAT Subject Tests in its admissions or scholarships, and if it does, I would want to wait until I have those scores too. If not though, it would be better that I just my SAT scores in now to show my interest, right?
UT does not track demonstrated interest. Most large public schools don’t do so. UT’s admission’s process is somewhat mechanical in that they will evaluate your academic potential (combination of SAT/ACT test score along with class rank) and also assign you a personal achievement index based on essays and extracurricular activities.
Respecting SAT Subject Tests, I’ve received conflicting information from my discussions with admissions counselors and from reviewing the info on the Be A Longhorn website. Some others might want to chime in.
@Copperrrrrrrrrrr Send them when you take the SAT Subject tests in October. UT doesn’t care about your SAT scores now and getting them early will not impact your admission in any way. But when you send the Subject Test scores in October, your regular SAT scores will be included with the score report at no additional cost. If you send the SAT scores separately now, you’ll have to pay extra. And I really don’t think UT considers SAT subject tests when evaluating admissions, but I could be wrong about that.

Thank you guys.
@fatherof2boys In UT’s common data set, it says that demonstrated interest is considered though?
@FloMoMom I already have four other schools that I am planning to use my four free score reports on in October, so it would cost the same either way. Does that change your opinion?
Yes, I’ve previously seen that entry on the CDS and been told by multiple counselors that they in fact do not consider demonstrated interest. I can’t explain the entry on the CDS. I do know that A&M admissions officials told me that there is a question on their application that ask the student to identify if they’ve visited campus and/or participated in an admissions event. I don’t know if UT
Respecting the Subject Scores, it is my understanding that they are not used for admission purposes; which I believe is consistent with the info on the CDS and what my son was told by the Houston Admissions Center. However, if I recall correctly, I believe that if an applicant is applying for certain Honors Programs such scores could be considered as part of those programs’ holistic review process.
Oh ok. Thank you!
